Evolution and Trends in Research on Intelligent Educational Technologies Applied to Vocational Retraining: A Bibliometric Analysis (2004 to 2024)

This bibliometric study analyses the evolution of scientific research on intelligent educational technologies in the specific context of vocational retraining. The study covers a period of 20 years (2004-2024). After filtering, the work was carried out based on 164 publications, all indexed in Web of Science. Through this analysis, we identify the main trends around our research axes, the most influential groups of authors, the topicality of the subject, as well as emerging themes in this rapidly expanding field. Our study has considered the COVID period, with its e-learning challenges, which had a major impact on publications on this specific subject. These results underline the growing importance of this field of research. Our findings include a significant increase in the number of publications, with an annual growth rate of 13.23 %, a lack of longitudinal studies, and the fact that most studies fail to take account of the profession-al and cultural reconversion contexts of underdeveloped countries.
