Deucravacitinib for the treatment of cutaneous lupus erythematosus: a nine-patient case series
This nine-patient case series explores the safety and efficacy of deucravacitinib, a tyrosine kinase-2 selective inhibitor, in the treatment of different subtypes of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE). Median CLE Disease Area and Severity Index (CLASI) – Activity decreased from 7 at baseline to 1 at week 12 and 0 at week 24, with good efficacy in all CLE subtypes. Median CLASI – Damage increased from 1 at baseline to 2 at week 12 and 2.5 at week 24. Adverse events included hand arthralgia in one patient and headache in another, but both were mild and did not require treatment discontinuation. Deucravacitinib is a promising medication in the treatment of CLE because of its efficacy, safety and tolerability, together with its oral route of administration.
