Numerical Simulation of the Influence of Closed Impeller Blade Distribution on Vortex Pump Performance

In order to obtain the influence of blade distribution on the head and efficiency of a double-support vortex pump, the three-dimensional simulation fluid field of the vortex pump is created, which is established by three kinds of blade distribution impeller models of the symmetrical flow channel of the vortex pump. The three kinds of vortex pump flow fields are discretized by finite element discretization. Numerical simulation of vortex pump performance was carried out by Ansys Fluent. The flow characteristics of the vortex pump are obtained, whose effects on impeller and symmetrical blade distribution include staggered blade distribution and inclined blade distribution. The performance test of a double-support vortex pump is carried out through the special pump test platform system in our institute. The results showed that under the condition of symmetrical blade distribution, the radial inclination angle of the blade will affect the distribution of the longitudinal vortex structure of the vortex pump, and the output head of the vortex pump increases first and then decreases with the increase in blade inclination angle. Under the condition of staggered blade distribution, the head output of the vortex pump is slightly increased with the staggered blade angle. The influence of the vortex pump output head is more obvious on the symmetrical blade than the interleaving blade. The results of numerical simulation of the effect of blade distribution on the output performance of the vortex pump are similar to the experimental results. Due to unmodeled experimental losses, the numerical simulation results of the head and efficiency of the vortex pump are about 7% and 9% higher than the experimental results.
