Rotation of the Light Polarization Plane in a TeO2 Crystal Using the Intermediate Regime of Acousto-Optic Diffraction
The paper examines polarization rotation controlled by an acoustic wave using the intermediate regime of acousto-optic diffraction. It is shown that this regime significantly increases the angular range of polarization rotation. A cell made of a paratellurite (TeO2) crystal allows the polarization rotation angle of linearly polarized radiation with a wavelength of 0.63 μm to be varied from 0° to ∼280° while changing the sound frequency from 25 to 50 MHz.
