Low Dose Ketamine as an Alternative to Morphine for Prehospital Analgesia in STEMI: The SCAKet Retrospective Feasibility Study
After introducing sub-dissociative ketamine into the STEMI protocol in our physician-staffed EMS agency, it was administered as frequently as morphine for prehospital STEMI analgesia and was associated with low rates of documented adverse effects. These initial results demonstrate the feasibility of using ketamine for the prehospital management of cardiac ischemic pain and suggest the need for a prospective multicenter randomized controlled trial.
