Manakov-Zakharov-Ward model as an integrable decoupling limit of the membrane
This paper proposes a novel decoupling limit of the membrane, leading to the ( <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <a:mrow> <a:mn>1</a:mn> <a:mo>+</a:mo> <a:mn>2</a:mn> </a:mrow> </a:math> )-dimensional classically integrable model originally introduced by Manakov, Zakharov, and Ward. This limit is the large-wrapping regime of a membrane propagating toy background of the form <c:math xmlns:c="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <c:msub> <c:mi mathvariant="double-struck">R</c:mi> <c:mi>t</c:mi> </c:msub> <c:mo>×</c:mo> <c:msup> <c:mi>T</c:mi> <c:mn>2</c:mn> </c:msup> <c:mo>×</c:mo> <c:mi>G</c:mi> </c:math> subject to scaling limit, where <f:math xmlns:f="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <f:mi>G</f:mi> </f:math> is a Lie group and the geometry is supported by a four-form flux. Such toy backgrounds can arise from consistent eleven-dimensional supergravity solutions, exemplified by the uplift of the pure Neveu-Schwarz-Neveu-Schwarz <h:math xmlns:h="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <h:mrow> <h:mrow> <h:msub> <h:mrow> <h:mi>AdS</h:mi> </h:mrow> <h:mrow> <h:mn>3</h:mn> </h:mrow> </h:msub> <h:mo>×</h:mo> </h:mrow> <h:msup> <h:mrow> <h:mi mathvariant="normal">S</h:mi> </h:mrow> <h:mrow> <h:mn>3</h:mn> </h:mrow> </h:msup> <h:mo>×</h:mo> <h:msup> <h:mrow> <h:mi mathvariant="normal">T</h:mi> </h:mrow> <h:mrow> <h:mn>4</h:mn> </h:mrow> </h:msup> </h:mrow> </h:math> background. The scaling limit can be interpreted as a simultaneous small tension and non- or hyperrelativistic limit.
