Epidemiological cancer surveillance cross-linked with residential proximity to agricultural pesticides in France
The aim of the GEO-K-PHYTO project is to set up and test operational aspects of an epidemiological cancer surveillance system linked to residential environmental exposure to agricultural plant protection products in France. The methods used to identify agricultural plots using AI, combined with data from French population-based cancer registries, show the feasibility and viability of such a system. Finally, we validated the proposed tool by analysing the potential relationship between residential proximity to cropland and the occurrence of haematopoietic cancers (blood, bone marrow and lymph node tissue).
