Enhancing Learning Outcomes Through Student-Created Scenarios and Responsible GenAI Integration in Project-Based Learning

Generative AI (GenAI) is reshaping educational practices, challenging traditional assessment models and raising concerns about academic integrity. Educators have proposed various alternatives to address these challenges, including scenariobased and project-based learning tasks. However, providing a single scenario to an entire cohort, known as uniform scenariobased tasks, often limits engagement and creativity. This paper introduces a constructivist approach that integrates studentcreated case scenarios with Project-Based Learning (PBL) and structured GenAI support. Students design unique scenarios informed by local contexts and iteratively refine their outputs using GenAI, shifting the emphasis from product to the process. Implemented across multiple IT units, this methodology demonstrates enhanced differentiation and authentic learning outcomes, supported by grade distribution analysis and student feedback. Abstract
