Abstract This thematic issue reflects the goals and contributions of the conference “European Cultural Memory in its Digitalization: Inventing Cultural Memory in the 21st Century,” organized at the University of Graz, Austria, on November 6–7, 2024. It was focused on the intersection of cultural heritage, memory studies, digital transformation, and Europeanization processes. The contributions reflect the state of the art in the field and discuss both case studies and broader trends emerging across national and European contexts – offering a range of examples concerning the digitalization of cultural heritage and memory.
