Introduction: Deconstructing the Role of Generations in Social Movements
This introductory chapter will contextualize the role of generations in social movements and showcase how the book, as a whole, ties neatly into existing literature across political sociology and social movement studies. Capturing the social scientific interest in ‘generations’ in understandings of social movements, this chapter will also briefly introduce each of the chapters of this edited book and make the case for analyses that deconstruct the role of generations in social movements. The chapter ends with a reflection on the text’s contributions and significance.
