Anesthetic Management of Tracheal Tumor Resection and Reconstruction: A Case Report of Complex Airway Management
REPORTcausing luminal narrowing at the level of D4 vertebra (Figs 2 and3).Preoperatively, the patient received a course of antibiotics, steroids, IntroductIonTracheal surgeries are required in congenital anomalies, tracheomalacia, traumatic injuries, vascular anomalies, and tumors.Tracheal tumors are rare tumors of the upper respiratory system.Tumor resection followed by anastomosis is considered definitive treatment for both malignant as well as benign tumors. 1 There is no single airway strategy suitable for all tracheal surgeries. The choice of airway management is best determined by multifocal assessment, such as preoperative comorbidities, features of the mass, surgical plan, etc. 2 There are two major goals for the anesthesiologist: minimizing obstruction of the surgical field while maintaining oxygenation and ventilation of the patient. 3We report a successful management of a tracheal tumor with cross-field ventilation.
