Unresectable Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma: An Unusual Presentation
REPORTbony metastasis in bilateral iliac bones. However, bone marrow biopsy done on November 19, 2024 and technetium (Tc-99) bone scan done on September 3, 2024 showed no evidence of bony metastasis.Biopsy from the lesion was suggestive of a malignant round cell tumor.Immunohistochemistry (IHC) showed the tumor to be desmin-, myogenin-, and myoD1-positive, which suggested a diagnosis of alveolar RMS (Figs 3 to 6).The tumor was deemed unresectable by the Uro-oncology Department and was started on chemotherapy with the VAC IRS-IV protocol which consisted of weekly vincristine 2 mg, actinomycin-D 1 mg, and cyclophosphamide 3400 mg.
