Transient Thermal Analysis of a Convective‐Radiative Wet Porous Inclined Exponential Fin With Internal Heat Generation: A Non‐Fourier Approach

Abstract Light‐weighted tapered fin designs are of use in airborne and space applications, solar collectors, refrigeration industries, and so on. Also, ample number of applications are based on non‐Fourier heat conduction. In this regard, the present analysis focuses on the thermal performance of an exponential profiled inclined convective‐radiative wet porous fin. A comparative analysis of the transient response of both Fourier and non‐Fourier heat conduction models (FHC and NFHC) has been performed. For practicality, the temperature‐sensitive convective heat transport coefficient and heat generation are taken into consideration. By using the centered implicit finite difference method (FDM), the derived nonlinear partial differential equation (PDE) is solved numerically. The extracted results have been graphically analysed with respect to their physical interpretations. The effects of Vernotte number, relaxation time, wet nature, angle of inclination, generation number, and other pertinent factors on the fin temperature along its length and also with dimensionless time, have been studied. It has been observed that in the case of NFHC, the thermal wave amplitude is more for exponential fin than the rectangular one.
