A field-weakening control strategy for full-speed operation of permanent magnet synchronous generators based on hall sensor position estimation

This paper proposes a full-speed-range generation control strategy for permanent magnet synchronous generator(PMSG), integrating low-cost Hall sensor-based rotor position estimation with field weakening control. The T-method speed calculation and angular interpolation ensure continuous vector control at low velocity, while negative d-axis current suppresses excessive back-EMF at high speeds. A dual-loop control framework, composed of voltage and current loops, enhances system dynamic response during load transients. Simulations and experiments validate that the proposed method maintains DC bus voltage stability and exhibits excellent dynamic performance. The strategy offers a low-cost, robust solution for distributed generation and energy applications.

Abstract

This paper proposes a full-speed-range generation control strategy for permanent magnet synchronous generator(PMSG), integrating low-cost Hall sensor-based rotor position estimation with field weakening control. The T-method speed calculation and angular interpolation ensure continuous vector control at low velocity, while negative d-axis current suppresses excessive back-EMF at high speeds. A dual-loop control framework, composed of voltage and current loops, enhances system dynamic response during load transients. Simulations and experiments validate that the proposed method maintains DC bus voltage stability and exhibits excellent dynamic performance. The strategy offers a low-cost, robust solution for distributed generation and energy applications.
