Study on NWP wind speed revision method considering atmospheric gravity wave effect

The NWP wind speed revision can effectively reduce the wind speed prediction error and improve the accuracy of wind speed and power generation prediction in wind farms. However, as the scale of wind farms increases, the traditional NWP revision method does not take into account the gravity waves excited by the interaction between large-scale wind farms and the boundary layer, which leads to a serious underestimation of the actual incoming wind speed at the front of wind farms. Therefore, a method of NWP wind speed revision that considers the gravity wave effect has been proposed. A high-resolution large-scale wind field database is constructed by synchronously inputting NWP wind speed and direction data from multiple sources, and the NWP wind speed is revised by monitoring the change of wind speed at the hub height of the wind farm and quantifying the influence of gravity waves on the incoming velocity of the wind farm. The results indicate that the proposed method can effectively capture the interference of gravity waves on the incoming wind speed at the front of the wind farm, significantly improve the revision effect of NWP wind speed, and provide algorithmic support for the economic operation of large-scale wind farms.
