The Discharge Clock
DISCUSSION:Clock drawing is a quick and sensitive (more than 80%) bedside tool that captures deficits in executive function and visuospatial reasoning. 7,8This test may reveal cognitive impairment that is not apparent through simple orientation or recall questions.Awareness of cognitive impairment at the time of ED discharge is essential for safe discharge planning and effective care transitions.
