Lebanon’s War, Distance, and Threads of Care

A brief prologue on the narrative, method, and authorship: This article is a result of an ongoing conversation between three friends: a researcher based in Amsterdam (Watfa), a journalist displaced from South Lebanon (Zainab), and a community mobilizer based in Beirut (Baqer), witnessing the same war from different vantage points. The collective authorship recognizes that knowledge about crises does not emerge from individual expertise but from thinking together across our differences. It is a methodological commitment to refuse the singular and objective observer who extracts knowledge from ‘informants.’ While Watfa shaped these exchanges into a narrative form, the analysis belongs to all three, and the three voices remain entangled throughout as we reflect together on our experiences of war, displacement, and care from within and beyond Lebanon.
