The Meta‐Mirror A Sensitization‐to‐Implementation Readiness Checkpoint for Digitally Supported Continuous Improvement Tool Rollouts in Industrial Manufacturing Contexts
ABSTRACT Digital tool rollouts in continuous improvement (CIP) often stall not because functionality is missing, but because early learning conditions collapse under operational pressure. Voice safety is unclear, roles and ownership for data quality and follow‐through remain ambiguous, and shadow routines (e.g., parallel spreadsheets and informal coordination) persist. Based on nine exploratory interviews in German industrial manufacturing settings, this paper consolidates these frictions into needs patterns that undermine knowledge articulation, integration, and application at the sensitization‐to‐implementation transition. Building on these patterns, the paper introduces the Meta‐Mirror: a low‐burden readiness‐and‐activation checkpoint that avoids assessment framing and turns a short shared reflection into three immediate outputs: (1) a plain‐language positioning statement, (2) a prioritized leverage axis with brief rationale, and (3) stage‐appropriate micro‐moves designed for takt‐time constraints. Design traceability is provided via an audit trail that links interview‐grounded needs patterns and predictable governance risks (e.g., control framing and voice suppression) to concrete design decisions in language, visualization, and role‐sensitive micro‐moves. A formative walkthrough evaluation ( n = 8) informed minor refinements related to wording, feasibility, and misuse prevention. The paper contributes a governance‐oriented checkpoint that connects knowledge processes with rollout governance under resource constraints and specifies boundary conditions for responsible use, including AI‐assisted facilitation.
