Effect of a Submerged Rectangular Barrier Structure in the Lake Entrance Area on the Flow Field
The investigation of the flow field driven by the submerged structures in the lake entrance area is helpful for preventing excessive delivery of sediment into the main lake area. Taking the lake entrance area as the research object, flume experiments were conducted to investigate the three-dimensional flow field around a submerged, sidewall-attached rectangular barrier structures (SRBS) with different length L/(B+D), angle θ, and location D/B. The discontinuity of the resistance at the structure top generated a large velocity gradient. The longitudinal variation gradient of the longitudinal velocity near the sidewall below the structure height is positively correlated with L/(B+D) and D/B, and negatively correlated with θ. Meanwhile, the increase of L/(B+D) will lead to an increase in the average velocity above the structures, the average velocity of the contraction section. The composition of TKE indicates the formation of strong lateral and vertical turbulence near the structures. The velocity composition equilibrium degree and impact length confirms the structure feasibility. The research results are of reference value for the design of SRBS to protect the water quality.
