Research and Prediction Model of Consolidation Permeability Test for Remolded Soil
At present, the model for predicting the permeability coefficient of soil is not only mathematically complex but also requires multiple parameters to be determined through tedious permeability tests to obtain analytical solutions. To seek a simple, widely applicable, and convenient model for predicting soil permeability in engineering practice, this paper uses an improved conventional permeameter to conduct consolidation permeability joint tests on cohesive soils in four counties of Fuzhou, China, and compares and analyzes it with 20 sets of consolidation permeability test data collected from different literature studies with pore ratio variations ranging from 0.9 to 3.49. The research results indicate that the accuracy of the calculated values and measured values obtained using the classical permeability coefficient prediction model established by Nagaraj et al. is low, while the calculated values obtained using the permeability coefficient prediction model established by Achari and Joshi have significant deviations and cannot meet the minimum accuracy requirements of engineering practice. A double logarithmic model for predicting the permeability coefficient of cohesive soil has been established, which is applicable to the range of pore ratio variation from 0.9 to 3.49 and the range of soil volume strain from 0% to 55% under liquid limit conditions. It has a wider range of applicability, more significant linearity, and is simple and practical. Based on the revised Burland model proposed by the author previously, a simple and practical model was established to predict the permeability coefficient of cohesive soil in the region using consolidation pressure.
