Utility of a Triazine‐Based Imine‐Linked Donor–Acceptor COF (TAPT–TP) for the Synthesis of 2‐Oxazolidinone Derivatives and CO 2 Photoreduction Under Visible Light Irradiation
Carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emission represents a critical environmental challenge that has garnered increasing attention in recent years. This nontoxic, readily available gas can be utilized to produce important chemicals along with the main energy source, fossil fuels. But the efficient utilization of CO 2 is highly demanding due to its thermodynamic stability as well as kinetic inertness. Over the last few decades, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) owing designable structures have shown promising performance to convert CO 2 to important chemicals or fuels. Herein, we have synthesized TAPT–TP COF in a simple method. This material has shown its superior photocatalytic activities to synthesize 2‐oxazolidinone from propargylic acid and amine, using atmospheric CO 2 under mild reaction condition. Also, it has shown its excellent photocatalytic performance for the photoreduction of CO 2 to formic acid. The photocatalyst exhibited excellent stability and reusability over multiple cycles. These results highlight a promising strategy for environmentally friendly CO 2 conversion using metal‐free catalyst. This work provides a new and excellent protocol for metal‐free synthesis of 2‐oxazolidinone and formic acid through a one‐pot reaction method.
