The Dedicated Education Unit Model: Learning Experiences of Students and Preceptors
The aim of this study was to gain insights into the perceived effectiveness of the dedicated education unit clinical model through self-reports of the learning experiences of students and preceptors. Participants completed anonymous surveys at two affiliated hospitals. Based on one-sided two-sample t -tests, student motivation, social inclusion, and preceptor preparation subscales had means that were significantly higher than in an older, similar study. Increased one-on-one learning opportunities with a trained, dedicated education unit preceptor were found to facilitate student preparation for nursing practice.
