A Frequency Switching‐Based Wireless LED Driver With Dual Customized CC Outputs

ABSTRACT Wireless power transfer (WPT) technology has become a feasible solution for underwater LED driving due to its safety and convenience advantages. Wireless LED drivers with a fixed‐specification constant current (CC) output cannot adjust the appropriate output specifications according to the external brightness. This paper proposes a wireless LED driver based on frequency switching, which features two CC outputs with distinct specifications, effectively solving the problem that a single topology cannot achieve multispecification outputs. The overall topology of the proposed wireless LED driver at two operating frequencies is equivalent to the conventional S‐S compensation topology. According to the characteristics of the output specification of the S‐S compensation topology related to the frequency, the driver can operate in a low‐output specification energy‐saving mode and a high‐output specification lighting mode. Additionally, zero phase angle (ZPA) operation is achieved in both modes, minimizing reactive circulating current and thereby improving system efficiency. To validate the feasibility of the proposed system, an experimental prototype with different specifications of CC output is made in the experimental part, where the output current in the energy‐saving mode is 1.4 A and the output current in the lighting mode is 2.2 A. Experimental results demonstrate the rationality and correctness of the proposed wireless LED driver.
