Burden and risk factors of sexually transmitted infections before and after HIV diagnosis in a Finnish national HIV cohort 1995–2019
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are common among people living with HIV (PLWH).This study integrates national HIV and STI registries to analyse STI trends before and after HIV diagnosis. The dataset included all individuals who lived with HIV in Finland at any point during 1995-2019, regardless of whether they were diagnosed before or during this period.Analysed STIs were chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, and hepatitis B and C, all requiring mandatory notification. An extended Cox model was used to estimate factors associated with STI events.Among 3775 PLWH, with a mean of 17.9 person-years of follow-up (PYFU), 71% had no recorded STIs, 17% had one, and 12% had two or more.Overall, during the study period, 10.7% https://doi.org/10.1017/S0950268826101150Published online
