Condensation of Nitride Coatings on Polymeric Organic Substrates
The condensation of ceramic metal-containing coatings on the surface of a natural polymer is a complex technical challenge because the melting points of titanium and hafnium are extremely high and the degradation of collagen occurs in the range of 70–100°C. The aim of this study is to produce a biomedical activated collagen-containing material with a titanium–hafnium nitride coating and to investigate its properties. It has been found that treating the surface of a leather material with low-energy argon and nitrogen ions from a radiofrequency discharge activates the protein structures of collagen and promotes the formation of a mobile vapor-permeable block structure of nitride coatings with elemental dimensions.
