Textural characteristics of the surface sediment in the marine marginal ecosystem (MMEs)

The present data revealed role of artificially developed mangrove ecosystem sediment textural characteristics and their deposition scenario in terms of environmental sustainability. A total of 240 surface sediment samples were collected from 15 stations spanning 16 months across the artificially developed mangrove ecosystem of Pazhaverkadu backwater, Tamil Nadu, India. The results were further undergone in multiple factorial analyses such as spatial, temporal, seasonal, annual, transects and ages of mangrove plants to understand the depositional and sediment load capability for environmental sustainability. A serious sieve sets (both Richtech sieve shaker and Malvern Particle analyser) was used to distinguish sediment textural fractions of the collected sediment samples. The data set presented here with percentage contribution of each sieve retained sediment fractions and those were further analysed statistically using GRADISTAT v8.
