Advances and Innovations in Plant Cell Transformation Technologies for Transgenic Plant Development

Advances in transgenic plant technology have transformed agricultural biotechnology, delivering solutions to worldwide issues including food security, environmental stress, and disease resistance. This systematic literature review investigates the progress and novel approaches in plant cell transformation methods, with a particular emphasis on their contribution to the creation of transgenic plants. This study examines the progression of genetic modification methods, from conventional Agrobacterium-based and biolistic approaches to newer innovations such as CRISPR-Cas9 and nanoparticle-assisted delivery systems, with an analysis of their effectiveness and drawbacks. The review further examines the application of selectable marker genes and the increasing focus on transgenic systems without markers to tackle regulatory and ecological issues. In addition, we examine the varied uses of genetically modified plants, such as the advancement of crops, the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, and the restoration of ecosystems, alongside an analysis of the techniques applied for their assessment and verification. Case studies of successful transgenic plant production are presented to illustrate practical implementations and outcomes. Through an analysis of prior studies, we pinpoint key deficiencies in present technologies and propose future approaches aimed at improving transformation efficiency, addressing off-target effects, and increasing public acceptance. The findings underscore the transformative potential of these technologies while emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to overcome existing challenges. This review serves as a thorough reference for researchers and policymakers, aiding informed decision-making within plant biotechnology.
