Comparison of PVDF and PMMA Haptics Used in the Modified Yamane Technique
To our knowledge, this is the first study comparing the efficacy and safety of PMMA-and PVDF-haptic IOLs in the modified Yamane technique.Although PVDF haptics are known to provide more reliable surgery due to their flexibility and resistance characteristics, surgery using PMMA haptics appears to have comparable efficacy and safety.Nevertheless, for surgeons performing this technique for the first time,we recommend beginning with IOLs designed with PVDF haptics due to the possibility of intraoperative haptic damage.
