The external Haller index as a new, reliable, and accurate evaluation of pectus excavatum associating clinical assessment, 3-D surface scanning measurement, and MRI
The traditional HI cut-off of 3.25 can be effectively replaced by an EHI cut-off of 1.68, obtained with a clinical caliper or 3D imaging. Its excellent reliability makes it ideal for use in pediatric orthopedic and surgical clinics, bridging the gap between complex imaging and actionable clinical decision-making.
