The Intentional Community-National Community Interface: An Approach to the Communal Societies
The essay presents a model of the communal society as a diad operating on two social levels. The commune functions as a closed unit while at the same time interacting with the larger national society for many of its needs.Traditionally the study of communal societies has focused on the cultural system of the commune. This essay argues that new insights can be gained by examining the cultural overlap of the intentional and national communities.
