An Investigation into the Impact of Technological Advancements, Advanced Manufacturing Methods and Industry 4.0 Adoption on the Bearing Manufacturing Industry: A Research Framework

Objectives : The purpose is to conduct a systematic study on how technological improvements, modern manufacturing methods, and Industry 4.0 implementation affect productivity, the quality of the product, measurement accuracy, and overall performance in the bearing manufacturing industry. The framework also questions the impact of superior manufacturing techniques and process-improvement instruments as well as Industry 4.0 technologies on quality, measurement accuracy, and production efficiency and Overall Equipment Effectiveness in bearing manufacturing. Method : A programmed literature search was conducted using Scopus, Web of Science, Science Direct and Google Scholar. It covered the period between 1997 and 2025. Peer-reviewed articles reporting a quantifiable outcome, i.e. defect percentage. The synthesis of findings was done through comparative tabulation, analysing of key performance indicators and categorising the technologies thematically. Findings : The data reveal that the use of quality tool, process improvement tools and Industry 4.0 techniques reduces bottlenecks, defects and cycle time. The Study highlights the significant improvements in OEE, quality and productivity. Novelty : The present manuscript presents an integrative, holistic research framework that highlights the most recent technological advances, process optimization strategies and the systematic implementation of Industry 4.0 practices and thus provides a methodical answer to the main challenges facing modern bearing production companies. The study provides a comprehensive, evidence-based model of the relationship between issues, technologies, and performance outcomes. It provides an implementation plan of Industry 4.0 Techniques, outlines the bottlenecks, and outlines the future research directions which include AI-driven defect prediction and low-cost Industry 4.0 adoption of micro, small, and medium enterprises. Keywords: Industry 4.0, Production Quality, Bearing Manufacturing, Process Improvement, Quality Control
