Brain oscillations and cardiovascular and metabolic profiles in lifespan population health
Risk factors for age-related dementias are of high interest, with a particular emphasis on cardiometabolic health. A recent article by Patel et al. (<i>J Neurophysiol</i> 134: 1020-1031, 2025) associated cardiometabolic health markers with neural oscillatory activity measured with resting-state magnetoencephalography. In this Neuro Forum, we place this new work in the context of the broader literature on brain aging, neurodegeneration, and the relationship between peripheral and neural markers of health.
