Desenvolvimiento de habilidades manuais em pacientes pediátricos com paralisia cerebral

In pediatric patients with cerebral palsy, clinical characteristics in the upper limbs frequently present that generate difficulties in performing manual skills. In this sense, it was determined as the objective of the investigation to describe how the exercise program of the international center for Neurological restoration influences the development of manual skills in pediatric patients with cerebral palsy. According to the methodological design, the type of study is experimental; according to the study method it is observational, according to the time of occurrence of the events and the recording of the information the study is retrospective. For the development of the research, a sample of 16 pediatric patients with cerebral palsy who met the inclusion criteria was selected. The male sex predominated (56,2%), clinical diagnosis of spastic cerebral palsy (43,7%), permanence of 2 cycles (56 days) of neurological rehabilitation treatment (100%), age range and evolution time between 3 to 6 years (100%). Statistically significant changes were observed for motor age and coefficient of motor development. The exercise program used in the treatment of neurological rehabilitation of pediatric patients with cerebral palsy is effective. The therapeutic intervention applied favored the motor age and the coefficient of motor development, which affects the development of manual skills in relation to grip, use of the hands, dexterity and manual eye coordination.
