Removal of displaced lower third molar through a submandibular approach: Case report
Displacement of a mandibular third molar into the submandibular space is an uncommon complication of extraction. This report discusses a 37-year-old female presenting with lingual numbness three weeks after a surgical extraction at a private clinic. Imaging revealed the tooth had been displaced into the right submandibular space. Surgical removal was successfully performed under general anaesthesia via an extraoral submandibular approach. This case highlights the importance of anatomical understanding, accurate diagnostic imaging, and proper surgical technique to ensure safe retrieval and prevent morbidity
