Assessing the Role of AI in Environmental Education: Pedagogical, Technological, and Economic Insights

Artificial Intelligence has rapidly become a key component of education these days, including environmental education, and it has a great potential to enhance learning, promote sustainability, and support scientific understanding. This paper examines how AI can support and improve students' understanding of ecological problems and how its usage directly affects the environment. The study combines a literature review with a questionnaire-based analysis of people's opinions, views, attitudes, and engagement with AI tools. The paper further highlights the economic and ecological implications of the usage of AI in everyday life and in academic purposes, such as infrastructure costs, energy consumption, water waste, and carbon emissions. The results highlight the need for responsible and sustainable integration of AI in environmental education and for a better understanding of it.
