Democratizing Quantum Regime Engineering: From Homeostatic Quantum Computing Concepts to Backyard Shed Experiments

AbstractThis paper introduces an educational bridge between the conceptual framework ofHomeostatic Quantum Computing (HQC) and accessible, hands-on experiments that canbe performed in a home workshop or classroom setting. HQC reframes open quantumsystem control as a regime engineering problem, replacing binary notions of coherenceversus decoherence with a continuous diagnostic parameter H that separates Darwinian(jump-dominated, H << 1) from geometric (smooth-flow, H >> 1) dynamical regimes. Wepresent a tiered programme of experiments—from polarization optics demonstrations(~$50–$300) through Earth’s-field nuclear magnetic resonance (~$500–$2,000) toopen-source nitrogen-vacancy diamond sensing and QuTiP simulation—designed to buildphysical intuition for Lindblad dynamics, regime characterization, noise spectroscopy, anddissipative control without requiring institutional laboratory resources. Each experiment ismapped to specific elements of the HQC framework and the Regime-First Bench Bookdiagnostic methodology. No claims of quantum computational advantage are made; thiswork is strictly educational, methodological, and outcome-agnostic. All materials arereleased under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 to encourage community adaptation and extension. Keywords: quantum computing, homeostatic control, Lindblad dynamics, regimecharacterization, open quantum systems, quantum sensing, NV centers, educational outreach, citizen science, backyard quantum experiments, HATI methodology
