Translation and Cross‐Cultural Validation of the Chinese P‐ <scp>CaRES</scp> Tool for <scp>ICU</scp> Palliative Care Screening
No validated tool identifies Chinese ICU patients eligible for palliative care rapidly. Translate, culturally adapt and validate the Chinese P-CaRES. Three-phase methodological study in six ICUs of three Shanghai tertiary hospitals. Fourteen-item Chinese P-CaRES: KR-20 = 0.88, two-factor structure (63% variance), sensitivity = 0.93, specificity = 0.81, test-retest ICC = 0.80. Reliable, valid and feasible for screening ICU patients needing palliative care consultation. Three- to five-minute routine screening facilitates early referrals, aligning with Chinese family-inclusive care.
