Development and characterization of self-adherent PDMS lenses for amblyopia and low vision aids

Amblyopia and low vision are closely related in the field of visual defects, as both conditions can significantly affect a person’s visual ability, albeit in different ways. While amblyopia usually originates in childhood and can be successfully treated if detected early, low vision can result from a variety of factors, including degenerative eye disease, and affect people of all ages. Both conditions require a specialized approach in visual rehabilitation to maximize the use of residual vision and improve patients’ quality of life. In this work, a method for supporting patients with amblyopia and low vision using self-adherent lenses developed from polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is investigated.
