Perplexing Pubic Pain: How Clinicians Might Approach Assessing and Managing Pubic-Related Groin Pain in Athletes
Pubic-related groin pain is one of the least common clinical entities of groin pain in athletes. Yet it can cause persistent and longstanding pain. In this viewpoint we summarize the current state of knowledge regarding terminology, underlying pathology and diagnosis, and imaging findings for pubic-related groin pain. We share new perspectives on the clinical presentation, sex-related differences, examination, the role of diagnostic imaging, and how examination findings may direct management.
