PreP / UnPreP — Epistemic Preparedness and Unpreparedness

Epistemic Preparedness (PreP) denotes a regulatory epistemic condition in which agents retain the capacity to govern epistemic direction, problem maturation, and delegation under conditions of acceleration. PreP is not a skill or literacy but a structural state that preserves epistemic agency in high-output environments. Epistemic Unpreparedness (UnPreP) designates the inverse condition, in which acceleration exceeds regulatory capacity and closure thresholds shift from normative criteria (legitimacy, consequence, responsibility) to operational criteria (availability, speed, convenience). Under UnPreP, premature closure, miscalibrated delegation, and loss of epistemic direction become structurally probable. The concept is structurally linked to the Epistemic Triad (Trackness, Incubativity, Delegability) and functions as a cross-volume regulatory framework within the Beyond Sectors series. Abstract
