January 17, Livia, and the Production of the Fasti Praenestini

Abstract: In this article I investigate two imperial commemorations that appear under January 17 on the marble calendar monument that stood in the forum at Praeneste to better understand the context for the drafting and production of the calendar around Tiberius's adoption in 4 CE. I argue that both entries should be associated with Livia, the wife of Augustus, as well as Tiberius.
