Cadaver Models: The Future of Surgical Training or the Need of the Hour? A Narrative Review
Abstract Cadaver-based training is an essential tool for mastering minimally invasive surgery, addressing the limitations of traditional learning models. This review explores embalming techniques, infrastructure requirements, and regulatory considerations necessary for structured implementation in India. Fresh frozen cadavers and soft embalming methods provide superior surgical fidelity, enhancing procedural accuracy. However, logistical barriers, ethical concerns, and procurement challenges must be addressed for widespread adoption. This study critically evaluates current practices and proposes actionable recommendations for integrating cadaver labs into India’s surgical training framework.
