Spin Physics Studies with Polarized Deuteron and Proton Beams at Nuclotron

Nuclotron provides the opportunity to study spin effects in few body systems using polarized deuteron and proton beams from new polarized ion source. The main goal of the experiments at internal target at Nuclotron is to obtain new and valuable information on the short range spin structure of two-nucleon and three-nucleon correlations in the processes with the participation of polarized deuterons and protons. Measurements of the angular dependencies of the deuteron analyzing powers $$A_{y}$$ , $$A_{yy}$$ and $$A_{xx}$$ in the energy range $$400{-}1800$$ MeV demonstrate the sensitivity to the short-range spin structure of the isoscalar nucleon–nucleon correlations. The data on the beam analyzing power in proton–proton quasi-elastic scattering can be used to improve the phase-shift analysis at high energies. The perspectives of the spin physics program, development of the efficient polarimetry of the deuteron and proton beams and the navigator for proton spin manipulation, what has the great importance for spin studies at NICA at whole, are discussed.
