Cover Feature: Conversion of Renewable Lignocellulosic Biomass‐Derived Nanocellulose into Graphene via Pyrolysis and High Shear‐Mediated Exfoliation (Small Struct. 2/2026)
Graphene Synthesis In their Research Article (10.1002/sstr.202500532), Elsa Antunes, Yu Matsueda, and Colin L. Raston investigate the conversion of nanocellulose, a sustainable material derived from lignocellulosic biomass into graphene via pyrolysis and shear mediated fluid conversion in the vortex fluidic device. The cover depicts the unique ‘spinning top’ flow that occurs in the vortex fluidic device which converts the material under high shear and temperature to graphite and subsequently is exfoliated into graphene.
