TURNING LIGHT INTO LIFE: Sustainable Production of Purple Bacteria for Future Food and Feed
Article presenting the Purple4Life project, an EU-funded initiative focused on developing an innovative, circular and sustainable production model for purple phototrophic bacteria (PPB) as a health-promoting ingredient for food and feed applications, particularly targeting Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) and carotenoids. The publication outlines the rationale, objectives, consortium composition, and planned research activities, including evaluation of PPB as a functional feed ingredient for salmonid fish and assessment of environmental and societal impacts.Journal / Magazine: Aquaculture Europe Magazine • Volume: 50 • Issue: 2 • Month / Year: September 2025 • Pages: 32–35 Funded by the European Union (Project 101212806 – Purple4Life).
