Copper-Catalyzed C–O Coupling for the Synthesis of 2-[(E)-Phenyldiazenyl]phenyl Cinnamates
Cinnamate esters are a class of compounds with distinctive aromatic properties and significant commercial value. Traditional synthesis approach utilizes cinnamic acid and alcohols under harsh reaction conditions. Herein, we report a novel synthetic approach via C–O coupling using copper as catalyst and TBHP (tert-butyl hydroperoxide) as oxidant under mild reaction conditions. This protocol accomplishes olefinic esterification of 2-(aryldiazenyl)phenol with high yield and broad substrate compatibility.
