Green Anesthesia
Anesthesia providers have an obligation to reduce atmospheric pollution by choosing techniques and drugs responsibly to minimize their carbon footprint. Anesthetist: environmentAl stewArdshipAs we are taking small steps in our personal lives to make a greener world, we should implement measures in our professional lives toward green anesthesia. As anesthesiologists, we are entrusted with patients' safety and care.Similarly, we have an ethical commitment to environmental preservation, as it impacts the health of all living beings. It is the responsibility and realization of each anesthesiologist that each choice we make, from selecting anesthetic agents to managing resources, contributes to the larger environmental context.Embracing this perspective, we should promote practices to support sustainability. There are many hurdles to sustainability, but they can be overcome by acquiring updated knowledge about alternatives, training, and research.
