Heinz L. and Rowena R. Ansbacher Lecture, 72nd Annual NASAP 2024 Conference: Disrupting Vertical Worldviews in Pursuit of Social Interest
Abstract: This Ansbacher Lecture explores vertical worldviews that support the systems of power and privilege that permeate North American society (Canada and the US) and all its institutions. Disrupting these vertical worldviews provides us with a vision for a just and democratic society, as well as a move toward allyship and social equality through a commitment to social interest. I begin this lecture with my cultural biography, followed by a diversity fable and discussion of disrupting vertical worldviews and the necessity for transformative allyship in pursuit of social interest. I end with a story about my daughter.
