An Improved Metaheuristic Approach for Optimal Parameterized Control of On-Board Bidirectional PEV Charger in V2G Functionality
This paper offers an optimized single-phase on-board multifunctional Electric Vehicle (EV) charger that is attached to the grid, which is both feasible and reliable. To charge an electric vehicle quickly, an efficient, small, and rapid battery charger is required. The front-end power stage converter in an onboard electric vehicle battery charger is proposed as a Weighted Seagull (WSG) optimized controller in this study. The suggested onboard charger may handle four tasks at once, including reactive power correction, voltage synchronization, harmonic mitigation, and charging and discharging an electric vehicle’s battery. The two-phase on-board charger consists of a DC–DC converter and a full-bridge AC–DC/DC–AC bidirectional conversion. The Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) charger in Voltage to Grid (V2G) effectively regulated the charging and discharging power of the EV battery to lower grid load volatility by load leveling, regulating the voltage, and keeping the Total Harmonics Distortion (THD) value within the IEEE limits, according to the results. Additionally, it regulates the analysis of DC-link voltage and ensures that the charger maintains a unity power factor. The proposed control method also avoids overcharging/discharging of the EV battery. Additionally, a THD comparison of the presented on-board charger is performed with extant well-known optimization methods.
