To Study Association between Pre-ECMO Lactate and Mortality Outcome in Pediatric ECMO from a Tertiary Center
This study's retrospective nature, small sample size, and lack of long-term outcome data constrain the generalizability and strength of conclusions.Variability in clinical 2/4/26, 1:14 PM ABSTRACTS ECMO -IJECMO2026 file:///C:/Users/Prabhat Shukla.DESKTOP-6HO8CNO/Downloads/Page Proof/IJECMO-4(S1)-html/IJECMO-4(S1)-html/IJECMO-4(S1)/4/S(1)/10.5 1/2conditions and ECMO practices may introduce confounders. ConclusionWhile pre-ECMO lactate showed a nonsignificant trend with mortality, it alone may not reliably predict outcomes in pediatric ECMO patients.Larger prospective studies are needed to validate lactate and other biomarkers for risk stratification and to guide ECMO patient selection in tertiary centers.
